Southern Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the hospital has been ranked #3 as a Georgia Top “Large” Hospital in the December 2020 issue of Georgia Trend magazine. The hospital has made an epic leap to #3 in the “Large” Hospital category from #11 in 2019 and #10 in 2018.

“This incredible leap in ranking is the result of every physician, clinician, and employees’ efforts and dedication to implementing change and continually meeting and exceeding high standards of patient care,” states Charlotte W. Dupré, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Regional Medical Center. “It is truly a reflection of this collective commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients and the communities we serve. To say that I’m proud of this accomplishment and of everything that the Southern Regional team does every day, is an understatement.”

The magazine’s December issue includes the annual “Georgia’s Top Hospitals” section which categorizes hospitals as follows: Teaching Hospitals and Large (250+ patient beds), Medium (100 – 249 patient beds) and Small Hospitals (less than 100 patient beds). A total performance score is used to rank the hospital in each group from information and data collected on clinical process, patient experience, outcome and efficiency. The 2020 hospital rankings are based on CMS data downloaded August 3, 2020, and an analysis of the data is completed by independent consultants from the Hull College of Business, Augusta University.

Georgia Trend magazine is the only statewide business publication in the market that focuses on Georgia business, politics and economic development. It provides a vital source and resource of information for business and legislative leaders of Georgia.
