Recognized CDC prevention program is NO COST to participants

Southern Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is offering a free diabetes education program series entitled FLEX Against Diabetes. This is a yearlong program with weekly sessions the first 6 months, then twice a month sessions for the second 6 months. Sessions are being offered both in-person and virtually as follows: Virtual Classes every Tuesday from 6 – 7 p.m. starting November 14; and In-Person Classes every Thursday from 12 – 1 p.m. starting November 16.

FLEX Against Diabetes is a CDC recognized diabetes prevention program provided through the Prevent T2 Diabetes Lifestyle Change initiative. Through this program, attendees will learn steps they can take to reduce their risk of Type 2 Diabetes. CDC-approved curriculum and trained lifestyle coaches will educate on diet, healthy eating habits and physical activities.

This program is free and open to all, and parking at the hospital is free.

In-person sessions will be held in the hospital’s Education Center. Southern Regional is located at 11 Upper Riverdale Road in Riverdale. Participants enter via the Education doors in the front of the hospital – they are the 3rd set of doors on the left when facing.

All interested participants must RSVP to request an invite to the virtual sessions or to enroll in the fall in-person calls at www.flexagainsdiabetes.org or by calling Sherri Shelton-Johnson at 470-273-9829.
