What to Bring to the Hospital
Pack a bag in advance and be ready for the big day. There will be a number of personal items that you’ll want to bring with you to the hospital. The Women’s Center offers this “Hospital Bag” checklist from A to Z to provide some guidance.

- Car Seat – Make sure it’s installed, ready to go, and that you know how to properly use it.
- Comfy Clothes – Loose lounge pants, nursing tank top, and cozy zip-up or bathrobe.
- Clothes to Go Home
- Footwear – Slippers, no-skid socks, or slip-on shoes.
- Glasses and their Case
- Health Records
- Lanolin – Soothes you and safe for baby when breastfeeding.
- Lip Balm
- Nursing Bra
- Nursing Pads
- Overnight Items for Your Partner
- Personal Items: Pads, Underwear and Diapers – We’ll provide pads and mesh underwear, however, some moms like bringing their own protection to be more comfortable.
- Phone and Phone Charger – Tip: Remember to take it with you when you leave.
- Pillow – We have pillows, but yours is probably more comfy.
- Snacks – You’ll have your hospital meals, but pack some snacks like granola bars, crackers or trail mix, too.
- Toiletries – Small bag with your toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, hair ties, deodorant, and travel-sized lotion, shampoo, and conditioner.
- Nice-to-Have – Nice to have with you but are not essential:
- Cozy blanket
- Tablet to connect to your favorite streaming movies
- Whatever items make you comfortable and happy
- Things You Do Not Need – We provide you with a gown, panties, pads, diapers, wipes, and formula.
