What to Bring to the Hospital

Pack a bag in advance and be ready for the big day.  There will be a number of personal items that you’ll want to bring with you to the hospital. The Women’s Center offers this “Hospital Bag” checklist from A to Z to provide some guidance.

    • Car Seat – Make sure it’s installed, ready to go, and that you know how to properly use it.
    • Comfy Clothes – Loose lounge pants, nursing tank top, and cozy zip-up or bathrobe.
    • Clothes to Go Home
    • Footwear – Slippers, no-skid socks, or slip-on shoes.
    • Glasses and their Case
    • Health Records
    • Lanolin – Soothes you and safe for baby when breastfeeding.
    • Lip Balm
    • Nursing Bra
    • Nursing Pads
    • Overnight Items for Your Partner
    • Personal Items: Pads, Underwear and Diapers – We’ll provide pads and mesh underwear, however, some moms like bringing their own protection to be more comfortable.
    • Phone and Phone Charger – Tip: Remember to take it with you when you leave.
    • Pillow – We have pillows, but yours is probably more comfy.
    • Snacks – You’ll have your hospital meals, but pack some snacks like granola bars, crackers or trail mix, too.
    • Toiletries – Small bag with your toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, hair ties, deodorant, and travel-sized lotion, shampoo, and conditioner.
    • Nice-to-Have – Nice to have with you but are not essential:
      • Cozy blanket
      • Tablet to connect to your favorite streaming movies
      • Whatever items make you comfortable and happy
    • Things You Do Not Need – We provide you with a gown, panties, pads, diapers, wipes, and formula.
