Procedure Information:
You will be asked to be here at the hospital at least 2 hours before your expected time of surgery. During this time we have you change clothes, start your intravenous fluids, give any medications ordered by your physicians, and double check everything to ensure that you are ready for surgery. After surgery you will be in the Recovery Room for approximately 45 -90 minutes. When you are awake and your vital signs are stable you will be taken to your room.
Additional Information:
What about family and friends? Family and friends are welcome to accompany you to the AM Admission Unit. However, we ask that visitation be kept to one visitor for adults and two for children. Family/friends may alternate visiting with you. During surgery your family should wait in the GI/Surgery Waiting Room until your surgeon or a recovery room representative has spoken with them. If they must leave the area, please be sure they inform the AM Admission staff. A recovery room representative will notify them of your room number.
