A History of Healing and Growth
Southern Regional first opened its doors to patients April 19, 1971 as a small, community hospital in Riverdale, Ga. Four short years later, the increased demand for services brought Southern Regional to begin a construction project that would double the hospital’s size.
In 1987, Southern Regional completed a second major expansion and became the first hospital in Georgia to be smoke free.
In 2001, the hospital opened the Women’s Life Center focused on providing high-quality health care to the women of our community. Today, called The Women’s Center, this beautiful center births approximatley 2,500 babies a year.
Spivey Station located in Jonesboro, Ga. is the newest Southern Regional addition and specialized services include OB/GYN, breast care, primary care and internal medicine, neurology, hematology and oncology.
