Partnership brings out-of-pocket patients the same high-quality care as insured patients at affordable, transparent prices

With an ever-increasing number of Americans paying out of pocket for healthcare, Southern Regional Medical Center has taken steps to help these patients get the medical care they need, when they need it. By partnering with online healthcare marketplace MDsave, Southern Regional is providing a new way for patients to pay for their medical services upfront at discounted prices that are bundled together with related fees – which means no more surprise bills.

“We understand in today’s environment, many patients are challenged with covering their healthcare costs that may preclude them from getting the care they need,” said Charlotte W. Dupré, President and CEO. “Through this partnership, Southern Regional is able to offer our patients who may not have insurance or have high deductibles or co-pays, better prices for specific services because of administrative efficiency. This allows them to receive the same high-quality care they expect from our hospital and providers.”

With MDSave, Southern Regional’s patients will also have access to CareCredit, a credit financing option to assist with paying those high out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. MDsave will be offered for all imaging and lab services, then, later in February, for bariatric procedures. Imaging services at Southern Regional Medical Center, Riverdale, and the Spivey Station Advanced Imaging Center and the Women’s Imaging Center, near Stockbridge, are both offering the MDsave program.

MDsave is dedicated to making healthcare accessible to everyone by empowering patients to make informed decisions about their care. The MDsave online marketplace is built on the principles of affordability, transparency, and “shoppability,” giving patients the ability to shop and compare pre-negotiated, bundled prices for their services and then immediately act on that information.

“Working with Southern Regional Medical Center, we are taking an important step toward making healthcare more accessible and affordable,” said MDsave CEO Paul Ketchel. “We know that the cost of preventive treatments is often a factor in consumers neglecting to have them. We hope that our strategic alliance will increase access to quality medical care and, as a result, help save lives.”
