Our Surgical Weight Loss Options

Gastric Sleeve

This is the most commonly performed weight loss surgery. If you have at least 50-75 pounds to lose (BMC >30-35), then a gastric sleeve surgery might be the answer for you. This surgery removes most of your stomach and shapes the remaining stomach into a tube or “sleeve”. This restricts the amount of food you can eat and allows for normal digestion and absorption

Gastric Bypass

We also offer Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. In a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, more than two-thirds of the stomach is “bypassed,” and a small portion (walnut sized gastric pouch) remains functional. It is mostly a restrictive procedure. The limited intestinal bypass contributes to weight loss and hunger control.

If you have at least 75-100 pounds to lose (BMC >35-40), a gastric bypass surgery might be the answer for you. This surgery makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. With a small stomach, you will feel full quickly and eat less.

Duodenal Switch

Duodenal switch is a complex surgery that offers an alternative to traditional gastric bypass although it comes with great risks. The surgery is a combination of a gastric sleeve and gastric bypass surgery. It is one of the more rare primary treatments for morbid obesity that is usually covered by insurance. This may be an option for individuals who fall into the severely obese category (BMI >55) and does not suffer from heart conditions.

Bariatric Surgery Revisions
