Patient Meals

  • After your admission, a dietetics representative will speak to you about meal selection during your hospitalization.
  • Southern Regional’s Food and Nutrition Services Department is staffed by registered dietitians who have extensive training in designing and implementing diet plans.
    • While the schedule varies by nursing unit, the following is an approximate meal-serving schedule:
      • Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
      • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      • Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Cafeteria Hours

Visitors may purchase meals in the hospital cafeteria. The Magnolia Grill is located on the ground floor behind the “A” elevators. Mealtimes offer a range of choices. Hours of operation:

  • Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Dinner: The Cafe is currently not open for dinner.

Vending machines are located on the ground floor next to the cafeteria and off the Women’s Life Center Lobby. Cold drink machines are located on each floor.

Telephone Service

  • Because patient rest is very important, calls will not ring to patient rooms between 9:30 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Each of the patient rooms includes a telephone with a direct dial number (770) 909-2, plus the three digits of your room number.
  • To make local outgoing calls, please dial 9 and the telephone number.
  • Calling card or collect long distance calls can be placed by dialing 9+0+area code+number.
  • Southern Regional Health System’s main number is 770-991-8000.
  • Public pay phones are located behind the information desk in the main lobby and in most waiting rooms.

Discharge from Hospital

  • Once your physician has written a discharge order and all final testing is complete, we will help you prepare to leave. This process may take some time as your nurses will need to complete your paperwork and discuss your discharge plan and instructions with you.
  • Please be sure you have arranged for appropriate transportation home. For your safety, you will be escorted out via wheelchair.
  • Health Information Services/Medical Records Patients may have access to information in their medical records after discharge. There is no fee for records to be sent to your physician’s office for continued care.
  • You may also request copies of your medical records. There is a fee for the medical record copies. Authorization forms may be mailed or picked up in the Health Information Services Department on the ground floor. Please allow three to five business days for your request to be processed.
  • For additional information, call the Health Information Services Department at 770-991-8175, option #3. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Pain Management
